Linen Restaurant Manchester 235 Casino - reader comments

"Avoid this place like the plague. The service was absolutely the worst we've ever seen with incredibly rude staff who couldn't cope with the number of people in the restaurant (which was only half full if that). We arrived 10 mins late for our table but had informed staff before who said it was fine. When we got there, they told us we'd "missed our slot" so had to wait.. and wait we did. Our 8.30 booking ended up with us being seated at 10pm and served our starters at 11. All the staff were very rude to us (a party of 8) with the exception of a lady manager at the end, who gave us 50% off the bill as we were so disappointed. It's a shame as it's a nice setting. The menu was good but the food was average, although possibly tainted by the fact that it was close to midnight by the time we got our mains! The restaurant could and should be fantastic. They seem to have a problem dealing with the number of customers they can cope with. As mentioned it was half full when we went and they certainly couldn't cope with that so I dread to think what experience you'd have if it was busy.
We've been to a lot of nice restaurants in Manchester and London and this certainly wasn't one of them. I'd actively recommend you never go there!"
- Alex Mackey, Manchester 19/3/07 (visited on a Saturday evening)
