Rosso Manchester Review
Restaurants Of Manchester (Monday 26th February 2018)

Decor & Ambience 4.5 stars

Positives

Without doubt, Rio Ferdinand's restaurant is one of the most impressive dining arenas in Manchester; looking stunning in all white after its January 2017 facelift. The restaurant is always busy with a great atmosphere - so book ahead.

Positives
The dance pop background music on our visits just didn't quite match the grand operatic surroundings.

Price 2 stars

Positives

Despite being pricey, those on a tight budget can still eat three courses for less than £25 (Bruschetta + Pizza Margherita + Dessert). There's a great seafood menu and look out for their great lunch offers on Restaurants Of Manchester and, with over thirty wines by the glass, including rarer bins in the Coravin, you can still drink on a budget.

Positives
There's no doubting it is one of the most expensive a la carte menus in Manchester, with all the starters costing between £10 and £16, (other than soup at £8). Main courses are also on the high side (averaging £21), with sides setting you back a further £4/£5 (although not always needed).

Service 4.5 stars

Positives

The Canadian manager, Sasha Svatek, is certainly on the ball, whilst our Greek waitress, Helena, was one of the best waitresses we've encountered in Manchester; friendly, knowledgeable, informative and attentive to all her tables. She was well supported by her equally pleasant colleagues.

Positives
This service was far more polished than our previous visit, on an incredibly busy Friday night in the run up to Christmas, which was let down by genial but absent minded service (they never offered to take our coats, we had to chase drinks three times, and the bill twice; which was also incorrect when it arrived).

Small Gnocchi al Pesto Rosso (£10) Pan Roasted Veal Cutlet (£30)

Food & Drink 3 stars

Positives

The dishes are certainly tasty with a varied choice of antipasti, pasta, pizza, and grills, alongside traditional Italian fish and meat dishes. Using quality ingredients, the prawns, scallops and meat cuts are amongst the most succulent in town, whilst the desserts are arguably the highlight of the meal.

The wine list is incredibly impressive, taking in all the regions of Italy, whilst you should arrive early to check out the fantastic premium cocktails at the bar, behind which, you'll also find a great selection of rare spirits.

Positives
Whilst still good, the dishes fail to reach the AA Rosette or L’Assiette Michelin levels you would expect given the high prices and beautiful environment.

Overall 3.5 stars 73%

Positives

One of the best, most elegant and busiest restaurants in Manchester, for sure.

Positives
Certainly one of the most expensive restaurants in Manchester too.
