Sams
Chop House Restaurant Manchester - reader comments
"It
is years since I've had a better quality home made Steak & Kidney
Pudding, it brought back a lot of taste bud memories and
accompanied by an excellent South African Shiraz. Now the winter months
are here I know where I'll be when visiting Manchester around lunch
time"

"Whilst
Sam's is certainly my favourite pub in Manchester, I'm always let
down by their food. Whenever I'm entertaining foreign guests,
I always bring them here for a real taste of Manchester. OK, English
food doesn't have the best reputation abroad and I'm always on a mission
to prove to my European friends how great it can be. On my past 3
visits to Sam's, the Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding has been an
expensive, big disappointment - crispy and overcooked with
rubbery beef left out on the Carvery for too long. I was so let down
the time before last, I decided to drive my most recent guests the
hour or so drive to the Fountaine Inn in Linton in the Yorkshire Dalesfor a superior Pudding, at half the price. You needn't go
so far - in fact Bacchanalia next door, serve cheaper, better quality
Yorkshire's than my last 3 at Sam's. I can recommend the Steak &
Kidney Pudding but it's quite expensive - you'd be
better finding a traditional chippie and having a Holland's. On the
flip side, the decor is wonderful - very traditional,
you almost feel like you're going back in time and the drinks are
superb. I'll certainly keep revisiting Sam's but unless they up their
game, they may lose a 'hopeful' regular."
