V&A Restaurant Manchester - reader comments
"Everything
was great although the duck was a little bit too salty. The
dessert took quite a long time to arrive but the waitress informed
me about the delay (because they made the chocolate cake freshly whilst
we were waiting). The dessert was great!! The staff
were very friendly"

"I'm
generally not a fan of hotel restaurants - generally the food is over-priced
and average and in many cases you have to endure the embarrassing
walk through the hotel lobby muttering to the staff, 'no I'm not a
resident, I'm just eating here'. The V&A however is different.
To avoid the embarrased walk, go left through reception and head for
the Lounge Bar, entering the restaurant from there. Following the
restaurant signs will just have you wandering around the corridors
in circles or even take you a floor too high in the lift. Once there
you'll find the most professional staff and a great
setting, overlooking the canal, ideal for a romantic
meal or business lunches - as seemed to be the main clientelle
here. The food is delicious, with a great
variety to choose from and, unlike many hotel restaurants,
the price not too unreasonable. My tuna fish was
cooked to perfection whilst the cheesecake I ordered
for dessert is the best I have ever had - even better
than the one at The Bay Horse in Fence, and I never thought I'd say
that! Highly recommended - I will be returning!"
