Shaandaar
Indian Restaurant Manchester - reader comments
"There
were dead fish in a dirty fish bowl on the counter.
We ordered the Aloo as a side, and when the bill came they had charged
it as a main. There was no price on the menu for it as a main course!"

"Opening
night after refurb. Went for a family meal for my brother's birthday.
Worst meal of our lives! When we arrived they said it was a set menu
as it was opening night so we said we would try somewhere else as
wanted more choice, they said no and would accommodate us. Proceeding
Mixed Starters (2 halves of chicken on two plates with bits of salad
- mixed!?! and between 6 of us!). Main courses arrived in
bits with waiters stood over dish smelling and prodding it
trying to guess what it was. My Chicken Shashlick, supposed to be
a dry tandoori dish, was in a very greasy sauce with floating green
peppers. When I asked what it was they said 'a new type of shashlick'!
Other dishes were much the same - not recognisable! Sat with 4 of
6 main courses going cold (no heater) for 20 mins waiting for rice
and remainder to arrive. Rice for 4 people arrived on two side plates
(enough for 1 child not 4 adults.) 2 other dishes arrived 10 mins
later and naan bread 5 mins after that. All cold by then. Waiters
didn't apologise or ask why we weren't eating. Spoke to manager
and said we were leaving without touching it. Negotiated that we still
had to pay £30 (half of the bill) as he said we should have
chosen set menu! We did say that we would go somewhere else and they
had offered to cook off the main menu for us. Ended up going a few
doors down to Shahenshah and sitting down at 10pm for a meal when
we had originally gone to Shaandaar at 7.45pm. Horrendous
and customer service skills sadly lacking despite nice new look.
Waiting staff didn't seem to care - Will never go there again. Brother's
birthday ruined." -
