Shere
Khan Indian Restaurant Manchester - reader comments
"I'm
a regular diner. Need I say more!?!" -
Andrew Swindell, Manchester 2/10/07 (visited on a Monday evening)
"I
went with a friend and we had no complaints - don't
get me wrong, we weren't overwhelmed. The food
was really really nice, wine was on the dearer side
price wise, but the service was good and we'd go
back!" -

"Dreadful!
Food was tasteless and at times the smell even made
me heave!" -
Lianne Owen, Manchester 27/5/07 (visited on a Sat evening)
"My
sister and I went to this restauraunt, it looked nice from
outside but was rather dirty inside. If
it was in my area were i live it would most certainly be branded as
a dump. I ordered Tikka Massala which wasnt really that nice... it
was very vinegary so i didn't eat it all. I have
had MUCH nicer meals in Indian reatauraunts were I live. I thought
going to Rusholme would be great but it wasnt. It all looked scruffy
to me and I wondered what it looked like in daylight... urgh!" -
Lynne Webster, St Helens 22/4/07 (visited on a Sat evening)
"It
was truly awful. We waited over 30 min for
anyone to come. When they did they came 3 times to ask for
drinks. We then had to remind them to bring drinks.
Another 30 min past by and they came to ask to take our food order.
We waited 30 min and asked them twice to which they said they
didn't know that we'd ordered. So we decided to leave, they
still charged £10 for the drinks. Their excuse was short
staffing.Totally unacceptable and definitely
a bad experience."

"I took some Swiss and German friends to Shere Khan's a few
months back. The service was appalling - very
unfriendly and almost intimidating. The food itself was
quite tasty although not the best Indian I'd had
by a long chalk. The following day I took ill,
headaches and cold sweats which got worse and a few days later I
started to turn yellow. I was rushed to hospital and kept in for
2 weeks with a strain of Hepatitis caused by food poisoning.
I've got no proof that it was the food from Shere Khan's that caused
the virus however the timing would point to that meal. The fact
the restaurant was later closed down for being infested with cockroaches
and given record fines following inspections from Health & Safety
officers possibly provided me with more suspicion. When visiting
another restaurant in Rusholme recently - much to the annoyance
of my family who nag me never to go back there - I had to chuckle
when I walked past Shere Khan's. Following the well publicised raid
and arrest of 69 'illegal' staff by Customs & Excise, a sign
now hangs in the window desperately advertising for new kitchen
and waiting staff."
