Felicini
Italian Restaurant Manchester - reader comments

"Having
had an excellent meal on our last visit, we were
keen to return, but will not do so again. We went back today and were
served great coffees and passable pizza (a little overcooked compared
to last time when it was perfect). However, in punishment for our
greed at ordering profiteroles to share we were served a disaster!
A better choice would have been to go to Sainsburys next door
as at least the pastry would have been within its sell-by date! On
sending the plate back we were told that the chef agreed that they
were past their best and we "would be given some of todays batch".
We were speechless that it would be acceptable for any chef worth
his salt to serve yesterday's food in the first place. The second
attempt was only slightly better, but on being asked our opinion of
the new plate the manager simply raised his eyes to the ceiling and
walked away when told that only the ice cream was edible. We were
still charged a not inconsiderable £6.50 for the privelege ...
we say take the money now as you won't be seeing us again"

"The
service whilst in the restaurant was good, however, we were left standing
at the entrance for a while; the waiters at the bar were reluctant
to greet us. However, the evening got better from then on. The food
was better than good, but not mouth-watering, although the
desserts were on another planet, the largest
Profiteroles in the world, and an
Ice Cream/Espresso Sundae which was to die for. The choice
of wine is extensive, and of good quality, and the location
next to the canal, with floor to ceiling windows in a hue of amber
lighting makes it a perfect setting for a romantic meal.
I will be revisiting on Valentine's Day, as it is romantic
and classy; a place where you can feel comfortable dining.
The nature of the restaurant means that service is relaxed,
and not a fast food stop, thus expecting such service before
a show is bound to lead to disappointment; this is a restaurant for
relaxation, not a forced meal. I would recommend it to anyone
looking for a relaxed, romantic, and even jovial experience be it
with a partner, or a group of friends"

"I
have been to Felicini's twice and have always had a pleasant
experience. sometimes some components of the dishes are not
perfect, but overall i've always had great quality dining.
I also love the huge puddings, one of the reasons
I went back a second time! Food served quickly but without being rushed
and staff were helpful as and when they were needed"

"My
partner recommended we go to Felicini's as he had been a few times
before with work and loved the food. As suggested, not only
the food but the service, and standards of everything were impeccible!
Apart from a group of roudy ladies sitting at the table next to us,
the place had a really vibrant atmosphere but wasn't
too loud or interfered with our evening as we were seated in one of
the lovely booths... The staff were on top form giving us time to
order and coming back after 5 minutes as they promised - not like
some places where you ask for a few more minutes and half an hour
later you're still trying to flag the waiter down...one of my favourite
places to dine in Manchester, could be a posh night out all suited
and booted or a little more casual. I'd recommend to anyone (and everyone!)"

"I
have visited Felicini's a few times now. I love the decor
and the food is really good. The staff are
friendly and helpful. My husband and I loved the Antipasti
e Insalata" -

"I
visited Felicini with my older, but not aged, parents and their friend
along with my two teenage daughters and my wife, the staff
greeted us warmly. Justin our waiter, was very patient
with the older folks not quite 'getting' what was on the
menu, even taking time out during a very busy pre-theatre
show session to go and find out all the ingredients of a particular
dish, and patient with my two teenagers not knowing what they wanted
off the menu. When they did all decide what they wanted the food
arrived in good time and every one enjoyed their meal, we
sat in the restaurant from 4.45pm untill 7.00pm and at no
time did we feel rushed, it was an excellent
start to an excellent evening out" -
