"We
went for a set menu Valentines meal. The menu was disappointing compared
to the main menu which was not available. There were a number
of problems but I will give one example. It was the Tiger
Prawn main course. The prawns, which had both heads and tails, were
encased in batter on top of the shells... so you had to de-shell them
first, which de-battered them which obviously left you with a flavourless
prawn inside. I've had plenty of 'prawns in their shells' dishes in
my life but never with a further layer of batter on top... completely
bizarre!" -

"The
inside decor of this restaurant is fantastic, however,
this is not matched by the service. We initially
had to wait 20 mins to get a drink and had to ask to be seated at
our table 30 mins after our reservation time. The starters
were nice but then we had to wait another hour for our main course.
When the food arrived part of it was incorrect and all of it was almost
cold. People were walking out all around us with out paying
for anything! We spoke to the lady in charge and sent
back many of the dishes. However when we refused to pay for
the food we had sent back, which was stone cold, the lady in charge
verbally attacked us. We were more than happy to pay for our drinks
and the food we had eaten however she just started ranting saying
what a bad night she had had! Perhaps we should have walked out like
everybody else but we felt this would have been unfair. So much for
trying to be decent!" -

"Wonderful
decor, great jazz music, extremely friendly
hostess who is very proud of her restaurant and rightly so - food
was beautiful, if somewhat more expensive than many of the
other Thai's in town."

"I
went for a spot of lunch with my friend and we decided to try out
Ikan, since we'd heard quite a bit about it. It was due to shut at
2.30 so when we got there at 2.25 we expected to be turned away but
the owner came over and greeted us and we were sat at a very nice
table by the window.
We were given two menus, the main and the lunch menu. I decided to
go for the 'Tom Ka Noodles' Flat rice noodle and sliced chicken breast
in creamy coconut broth. However it seems that my order must
have been taken wrong and I was given a noodle based prawn
dish, I didn't bother telling the waiter as upon tasting it I found
it to be quiet delicious!!
Apart from the mix up with the order everything was good about
Ikan, I would maybe visit again, however for Thai restaurants,
there are others in town that would be higher up on my list"
