"Like
the previous reviewer, I also visited the Thai Lounge after seeing
the results of the Pride Of Manchester Awards. I have also visited
Chaophraya and Vermillion as well as the less impressive Koh Samui,
Phetpallin, Royal Orchid and Try Thai. Whilst its wrong to compare
The Thai Lounge to its city centre rivals, it's fair to say it is
a superb provencial restaurant serving top class
food to the local community. It wouldn't be out of place in the city
centre and I can understand its status as 2nd best in Manchester although,
for me, it fell down in a few areas on this visit. With the exception
of the manager, the service, whilst efficient, wasn't very
friendly. My Lamb Massaman was nice but not as outstanding
as others I have had in Thailand, Australia nor even Chaophraya for
that matter. As I say though, it's wrong to compare like for like
as this is still unquestionably an excellent restaurant and
well worth the trip."

"After
seeing The Thai Lounge had finished runner up in the Pride Of Manchester
Awards above other restaurants we love we decided to venture over
to Whitefield and we weren't disappointed. All five in our party agreed
that the food was excellent. The set meals looked
well-balanced and good value but we opted for sharing platters of
Thai starters (very good) and then individual main
courses. My Chicken Gaeng Daeng (Red Curry) was spot on - very tender
chicken, nicely cooked and just the right degree of spice for me.
I don't do desserts but I have to say that I was a little bit envious
of the rest of my group when I saw the quality of their Swiss ice
cream selections - the ideal way of finishing a Thai meal. Next time,
I'll go for it! All in all a very satisfactory meal.
The one criticism I would make is that the serving staff were
a bit low on friendliness and personality. But it was a Sunday
night and maybe they were just tired after a long week. The bill at
£120 for the five of us, including cocktails, was very acceptable
but even more so when I got £18 knocked off with the Restaurants
Of Manchester 15% discount voucher. Definitely one to go back to in
the future.."

"My
boyfriend surprised me with a romantic dinner for two at the Thai
Lounge. The food was as authentic as when we in Thailand 2
years ago but with a modern twist, the decor was
out of this world and we have enquired about a few things
on show that would look nice in our home. Thank you to all the lovely
staff and gorgeous food. aroy makk... a new breed of super restaurant
is here!"

"Really
enjoyable experience. The food was fresh
and clean and very flavoursome. The staff
were very pleasant and helpful. The decor was tastefully
done with a modern twist and bay windows. Definitely going
back and will tell others to go too."
