"Went
for my sister's celebration after hearing great reviews about the
food. Was disappointed with the level of service and the food.
Starters were very greasy. The Egg Fried Rice was
very dry, a friend's dish looked like vomit which he'd ordered after
being given the wrong information about the crab meat and so he didn't
even touch it. The staff never thought to ask why that dish had been
left untouched. Service was poor. I'd catch a waiter's
eye but they'd just walk by. When asked if we wanted any more drinks,
a friend requested one which never came. The time between starters
and main was very long, no one thought to come and tell us it would
be a while. The restaurant itself could do with a make over.
Their vegetarian menu could also do with being extended. Not sure
why this place gets such rave reviews - I've had take aways that taste
much better and are a hell of a lot cheaper!"

"We
asked for a table in the corner on a Tuesday night at around 6pm,
and got one immediately, no problem. We were downstairs, with about
5 other parties when we started, and almost full when we finished
two hours later. We asked for Banquet A and specifically asked for
one to be made which didn't include red meat or oysters/scallops,
this was achieved, we weren't rushed, we got a free bottle of wine
because of Manchester International Festival. The waiters
were polite, efficient and professional. The bill
was slightly more than we anticipated (we were expecting
bill to be around £55 and £60 was charged, but it said
on the receipt that service wasn't included. I didn't quibble because
they had met my every requirement and included lots of prawns. The
banquet could cost between £27.50 and £29 per person.
I asked specifically for Ostrich in the banquet and it was delicious,
as was the chicken and peach also the Asparagus is worthy of mention.
Overall I was very satisfied with my meal but would
probably want to try out other Chinese restaurants in the area on
future visits"

"We
had an incredible meal here, the waiter was more
than happy to help us with the menu and we got a superb selection.
We went for the 'Banquet Menu B' - which was very good,
there was so much variety with amazing flavours
- particularly enjoyed the lobster! Overall we had a wonderful
meal - thoroughly recommend to everyone!"

"The
last time I visited the Yang Sing was over a year ago and I remember
at the time enjoying the food but still being left slightly disappointed
it wasn't of the standards that Egon Ronay and the Good Food Guide
had led me to believe. After reading in many 2007 guide books that
"it isn't the restaurant it once was",
I thought I'd check it out. I have to say, the books were spot on!
The only thing that hasn't changed here is the decor - now somewhat
tired and in need of a refurb. It's no longer
as posh as it used to be; in the old days I remember you
had to book weeks ahead to get a table and the clientele were mainly
suited business men as opposed to the hen nights and football shirted
fans that were here on Saturday night. The food was very tasty
and reasonably priced but the quality wasn't
great. The grease that spat of more than one of our dishes
on the hot plates covered everything on the table from mobile phones
to shirt cuffs and drinks glasses. Certainly not of Egon Ronay
standards any more. It appears the Yang Sing is still
trading on its old reputation and, as this website and the
guide books say, there's far better Chinese restaurants in Manchester
to choose from."
