Combining oriental chic with Northern Quarter charm, Ning is a gorgeous independent south east Asian restaurant on the edge of Ancoats and the Northern Quarter. Currently open in the evenings, there's a chilled-out feel, very friendly service and a simple, authentic à la carte choice.

With a focus on Malaysian and Thai specialities, the food is fresh, halal and MSG-free and more than half of the available dishes can be ordered as vegetarian or vegan.

The decor is contemporary oriental with bold bespoke wallpaper and Malay batik prints in the bar area. Ning is available for private hire and also offers an outside catering service.

Norman Musa leads Ning. He is an experienced cook, bringing inventive ideas and contemporary style to his native Malaysian food, fusing the best of Western quality and presentation style with authentic, home-cooked cuisine from across South East Asia.
Set within a simple but chic venue and served by friendly waiting staff, Ning is influenced in concept by trendy noodle bars of Asian cities, with the relaxed and sociable ambience of continental European cafés. The aim is to be an authentic and stylish, welcoming and inclusive venue without the pretension.
Look out for excellent deals and promotions, including Ning's £12.95 menu, the superb set meals and the regular Malay cookery classes in the restaurant.

Ning Manchester Reviews
"Ning is a hidden gem! Located at the top end of Oldham Street in the Northern Quarter, this Malaysian and Thai restaurant is beautifully decorated and offers some of the best South East Asian food in Manchester at a wonderfully affordable price. There's a great selection of Malaysian dishes to choose from with other Asian favourites from Thailand and Indonesia available too. Whilst this area of town has drastically changed for the better in the past year or so, you can't help but feel that if Ning was located elsewhere in the city centre it would deservedly be one of the busiest restaurants in town. It's certainly one we'll be venturing to again and again." - Restaurants Of Manchester (Dec 2007)
